How "Ministering" and "Friendship" go hand-in-hand
July 10, 2018
In his remarkable example of ministering, given in the April, 2018 General Conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland quotes the young father whose friend, Brett, came to this man's side as he grieved the loss of his young wife. The father shares, "Elder Holland, the irony in all of this is that Brett ... visited us more as a friend than by assignment. My wife, our boys -- we don't see him as one obligated to bring us a message at the end of each month; we think of him as a friend ... who would do anything in this world to bless us."
I add that a minister may not always be a close friend, but a close, true friend is always aiming to minister. Call it what you will, friendship motivated by the Pure love of Christ will make good ministers and missionaries of us all.
